The main character refers to the Demiurge as the entity who “fashioned and shaped” the material world. Timaeus describes the Demiurge as unreservedly benevolent , and so it desires a world as good as possible. The world remains imperfect, however, because the Demiurge created the world out of a chaotic , indeterminate non-being. To Plotinus, the second emanation represents an uncreated second cause see Pythagoras ‘ Dyad. Plotinus sought to reconcile Aristotle’s energeia with Plato’s Demiurge, which, as Demiurge and mind nous , is a critical component in the ontological construct of human consciousness used to explain and clarify substance theory within Platonic realism also called idealism. In order to reconcile Aristotelian with Platonian philosophy, Plotinus metaphorically identified the demiurge or nous within the pantheon of the Greek Gods as Zeus. The Monad emanated the demiurge or Nous consciousness from its “indeterminate” vitality due to the monad being so abundant that it overflowed back onto itself, causing self-reflection. The second principle is organization in its reflection of the nonsentient force or dynamis , also called the one or the Monad.
He was first put in charge of cow chains but gradually worked his way up to the firearms and cutlery department. The only solution Kastor saw was to manufacture knives domestically. Eventually, his search led him to Charles Sherwood and his small knife manufacturing business in Camillus.

Paid memberships don’t see ads! I’ve never been able to find information on the progression of Craftsman axe stamps over the years. I know they used many different stamps but I haven’t been able to date them. What I’m hoping to do with this thread is at least get a record of what different stamps are out there. Maybe we can make some informed guesses about dates and the progression of stamps. So please share photos of whatever Craftsman stamps you have and lets see where this leads us.
First up is an old double oval stamp. This one is pretty pitted and hard to photograph.

READ MORE History of archaeology No doubt there have always been people who were interested in the material remains of the past, but archaeology as a discipline has its earliest origins in 15th- and 16th-century Europe , when the Renaissance Humanists looked back upon the glories of Greece and Rome. Popes, cardinals, and noblemen in Italy in the 16th century began to collect antiquities and to sponsor excavations to find more works of ancient art.
These collectors were imitated by others in northern Europe who were similarly interested in antique culture. All this activity, however, was still not archaeology in the strict sense. It was more like what would be called art collecting today. The Mediterranean and the Middle East Archaeology proper began with an interest in the Greeks and Romans and first developed in 18th-century Italy with the excavations of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Classical archaeology was established on a more scientific basis by the work of Heinrich Schliemann , who investigated the origins of Greek civilization at Troy and Mycenae in the s; of M. Conze was the first person to include photographs in the publication of his report. Schliemann had intended to dig in Crete but did not do so, and it was left to Arthur Evans to begin work at Knossos in and to discover the Minoan civilization , ancestor of classical Greece.
He brought with him scholars who set to work recording the archaeological remains of the country. This decipherment, which enabled scholars to read the numerous writings left by the Egyptians, was the first great step forward in Egyptian archaeology.

Orrefors Graal The Orrefors Graal Glass went through several stages of development to get to the Graal technique that we are used to today. Basically, the first Graal pieces were developed at Orrefors in , and the same technique was used until At the beginning of the s, Edvard Hald and Vicke Lindstrand experimented with the Graal technique and came up with the “new” Graal method, which basically meant that the layer of clear glass that is applied is thicker.
In , the technique got its own numbering system. Edvard Hald developed this technique further with Heinz Richter to form the Aquagraal technique. From onward this letter was omitted, since the pieces were clearly marked Slipgraal anyway. Early pieces had the production date mentioned seperately on them. Orrefors Kraka Sven Palmqvist inveted the Kraka technique in Early Kraka pieces were mostly of a single color, white being the most prevalent.

In Byzantine Rite theology the immanence of God is expressed as the hypostases or energies of God, who in his essence is incomprehensible and transcendent. In Catholic theology, Christ and the Holy Spirit immanently reveal themselves; God the Father only reveals himself immanently vicariously through the Son and Spirit, and the Divine Nature, the Godhead is wholly transcendent and unable to be comprehended.
This is expressed in St. Paul ‘s letter to the Philippians, where he writes:
Aug 28, · Craftsman has been a household name in the tool industry dating back to When Stanley Black & Decker purchased the Craftsman brand from Sears last year, apparently, the deal allowed Craftsman to continue being manufactured and .

It has some similarities to my F. Wesel saw, but to my knowledge, F. Wesel machines were always mostly cast iron and steel, not entirely wooden as that one is. My theory is that this saw was made by a talented and skilled craftsman. The Smithsonian Institution contacts Rich for input in this area.

Mithra vs Jesus See our own video summary Back in the Roman era, Mithraism was perhaps Christianity’s leading competitor for the hearts and minds of others. Today Mithraism is religiously a non-factor, but it still “competes” with Christianity, in another way: It is a leading candidate for the “pagan copycat” thesis crowd as a supposed source for Christianity. Our walking papers are laid out for us by over a dozen things that Jesus supposedly has in common with Mithras and, by extension, Christianity allegedly borrowed to create the Jesus character.
Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25th in a cave, and his birth was attended by shepherds.

The craft of false graining dates back centuries, as artisans soon realized they could duplicate the color and grain pattern of a more expensive, exotic wood atop a plain, inexpensive wood. While Arts and Crafts furniture has not been plagued by examples of false graining, I have seen it on several library tables. The problem, of course, is that if the thin layer of glazing gets damaged, scratched, scuffed, or cleaned with a strong chemical, it will disappear, leaving a blank spot in its place.
I spotted this late Victorian dresser in a Midwest antiques mall recently, which is a perfect example of what the Arts and Crafts movement rebelled against: The uniform grain pattern on the top was my first clue that the dresser was not what it appeared to be….. And the perfectly uniform quartersawn grain on the drawer fronts made me even more suspicious. How to prove it? Easy — just look on the back side of the board.

Oct 11, · The saw shown in the pics above appears to my eye that it might possibly have been made by a skilled craftsman, perhaps a pattern maker or someone with similar skills, rather than manufactured as a commercially-sold machine – although the latter also is possible, because I have seen wooden “saw tables” dating from the late s.

His famous claim that an idividual can and cannot step into the same river twice reveals an interest in criteria of unity and identity; even though all material constituents have undergone change, it is still, in a sence, the same river. Preoccupied with change, he declared that fire is the central element of the universe, and he postulated a world with no beginning and no end Pythagoras – Greek philosopher and mathematician; held that numbers were basic to matter; the Pythagorean Theorem is named for his geometric formulation; developed atomic theory; students of his philosophy emphasized geometrical form as a basic property of atoms; developed mathematical relationships which led to musical harmony.
